Why I Took A Break

Like I mentioned in my review of the Drum Island Arc on Monday, I took several weeks off from the blog during the month of October, despite having several blog series ongoing.

There were a few reasons that I’ll get in to as to why I took a break, but I guess I should ket you know first that I am perfectly alright and there is nothing to worry about.

The biggest reason that I took the time off is because I wanted a break. Things at work, and home, and my social life were getting rather busy, and I felt that when I was writing my posts I was rushing through them and not really enjoying them.

I was mainly writing them just to get a post online and I wasn’t actually looking forward to writing every day like I wanted to be.

That’s the biggest reason I wanted to keep going with the blog, so that I could enjoy whatever I was posting.

I figured taking some time off and refreshing myself from the blog was a good idea for me, and for my content.

The second reason I took some time off from the blog, is because I couldn’t keep up with the goals I had planned for myself.

If you weren’t aware, I had set the goal of watching a scary movie every day in the month of October. At first I was able to keep up with this. Pretty much every day I would watch a scary movie before bed, and anything I was too tired to finish I would finish the next morning before work.

This worked out for about a week, but then I’d miss a movie for one of many reasons, and then another, and then another, till I was a week behind and couldn’t find the time to catch up at all.

I am a bit upset with myself for setting this goal but not sticking with it, but more important things in life were coming up and they took priority over watching scary movies.

The third reason, despite not really being a reason, is that I’ve been trying out new looks for the blog to make it look more like I want it to. This hasn’t necessarily taken away from my writing, but it has taken up some of my time that I would normally dedicate to writing posts.

The new blog format isn’t out yet because i am still finishing some final touches on it, but it will hopefully be out soon.

Anyways, thats the gist of why I was absent for a few weeks. I plan on coming back into the full swing of things over the next week or so, and I am looking forward to finding new blogs to follow and the new projects I want to begin.

  1. It’s good to take a break sometimes, I think I’ve burnt myself out on reading this year. I feel like I didn’t have a lot of time in October to read all the spooky books I wanted to read. But like you there was just so much going on in my personal life, so many activities taking my kids here and there, so it is what it is! I look forward to seeing your new blog format. ☺️

  2. I always find that my personal reading and blog goals should always be fun first. Not finishing something because life happens is kind of great, it means you have more going on than just posts and projects for an online forum!

I just try to be positive about the whole thing. Breaks are important. If blogging isn’t fun there isn’t a point to it!
