Water. Earth. Fire. Air. I’ve heard stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar Blogger kept balance between the Water Critics, Earth Reviewers, Fire Writers, and Air Readers. But that all changed when the Fire Writers attacked.

Only the Avatar Blogger, master of all four blogging elements could stop the ruthless Fire Writers. But when the world needed them the most, they vanished. A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Writers are nearing victory in the war.

Some people believe that the Avatar Blogger was never reborn into the Air Readers, and that the cycle is broken. But I haven’t lost hope. I still believe that somehow, the Avatar Blogger will return to save the book world!

How to become the Avatar Blogger:

  • To become the Avatar Blogger and save the book world from the Fire Writer Lord, the Avatar Blogger must master all four elements.
  • To master an element, a blogger must be tagged in one of the four following tags: Book of Water, Book of Earth, Book of Fire, Book of Air.
  • Once a blogger has posted all four tags to their page, they can message the Order of the White Lotus (@onmybookshelff) on twitter to receive the Avatar Blogger Award. (Not first come first serve. Everyone can get the award!)

Rules of this Tag:

  • Thank whomever tagged you
  • Answer the 7 questions below
  • Help other potential Avatar Bloggers by tagging 5 bloggers.

Book of Water Tag

Of all the nations in the Avatar world, the Earth Kingdom is the largest in size.
What are your three largest books?

Unsurprisingly, the three Stormlight Archives books are my longest three books. They’re all over 1,000 pages, and I expect the fourth one to be up there when it finally comes out too! Check out my list of my 10 Longest Books.

Ba Sing Se, the capital of the Earth Kingdom, has absolutely beautiful walls that have stood the test of time.
What book would you leave buried in a time capsule, to be opened by someone you don’t know 30 years from now?

OOH good question Andrew, this is actually really tough. I think I would have to go with a tried and true series that I will forever hold in my heart; the Redwall Series. I think they are under appreciated, in my bookish world at least, and they were a major part of turning me into the reader that I am today. I think people even 30 years from now can appreciate their values.

Citizens of the Earth Reviewers are recognized by their green attire.
Share some of your books that have a green cover.

I actually own very few mostly green book covers, but here are some with at least a splash of green!

Though many people of the Earth Reviewers live in large cities, a lot of its citizens are migratory people.
What book did you DNF the quickest, and why did you give up on it?

I’ve never actually DNF’d a book before. I have a self rule that if I start a book, movie, or TV season, I have to finish it. I can always find something that I like about it. If theres a second book, season or movie, I might not continue with them, but I will always finish the ones I started watching or reading.

Any Avatar or Earth Reviewer would be honored to be taught by Toph, the creator of metal bending, and close friend to Avatar Aang.
Which author, dead or alive, would you love to sit down with for a meal?

I think I would pick Robert Jordan. He is the author of one of my top two book series; The Wheel of Time, and seeing as he has passed away, I would love to just fanboy over how amazing his world is and how much it has inspired me as a hopeful future writer.

Earth Reviewing relies on standing strong and outlasting your opponent, looking for the perfect moment to strike.
What is one book you had on your TBR on too long, and you wish you had read sooner?

Hands down, Priory of the Orange Tree. I bought it on a whim because I saw people gushing over it on Twitter, but always put it to the back of my TBR pile. I’m mad at myself for doing that because I would definitely consider it one of my top 10 favourite books right now, and Samantha Shannon is one of my favourite authors.

Iroh, a friend to the Avatar and one of the wisest men you’ll meet referred to the Earth as the element of substance.
If you were skilled at making one thing, whether its artsy, music related, or more home improvement focused, what would it be?

I would really like to be good at making things out of wood. You know, desks, chairs, tables, etc. I just think there is a hidden beauty there that is so simple, and practical, but heavily under appreciated.

My Very Own Blogging Award

Hello dear readers, I have a bit of news for you today that I hope you’ll enjoy.

One of my goals this year was to come up with a blogging award. Originally it was supposed to be an award to showcase a selfless blogger who is always there to share a nice word and who is always willing to help others.

I had ideas to get that idea rolling, but nothing solid yet, so I might just hold that in my back pocket till I can work out the kinks.

BUT in the process, I did come up with what I think will be a really fun award that will get people wanting to do book tags.

I won’t give away too much just yet, but the name of the award is the Avatar Blogger award.

If you know anything about the show Avatar, you might be able to figure out that you might need to master four different elements or something??? I guess you’ll just have to wait and see.

What I can tell you is that the first part of that Award will be coming out tomorrow…so stay tuned!

Vincent Ehindero Blogger Award

Ellie asked me:

How did I get into blogging?

My blog actually started as a school assignment so we could learn how to run and promote a blog. Within a few weeks I was already going above and beyond to market the blog and stuck with it ever since. I kept up with it because I realized it was something I loved doing.

Do I plan posts in advance, or write what I feel like?

A bit of both. I plan ahead for a month, so I know what to expect for the next few days whenever I look at my calendar. Some days I have something specific planned, other days are just “Book Review” day and I have to pick one.

What post or series of posts am I most proud of?

I actually really enjoy my VS. Battles that I do between two similar literary things. I’ve done book Hunger Games vs. Divergent, Gandalf vs. Dumbledore, and Books vs. Movies and I hope to do a lot more in the future.

What advice would you give to someone asking how to write a good book review?

Don’t do what other people do, just because they are doing it. Write how you want to write, and write what you want to write about. THat’s how you’ll find your voice and you’ll continue to love it.

Favourite ice cream flavour?

I’m a simple man. Chocolate is my favourite.

1. If you could blog about anything but books, what would it be?
2. Why do you like blogging?
