Solve it Sunday: Infinite Worlds

Hello my dear Sherlocks, Einsteins, and other puzzle solvers. You’re probably all cooped up and sick of your family at this point, and need something to keep morale up.

Well, I got just the thing for you.

As always, the solution to the riddle is in the comments.

The mathematics of infinity can be startlingly beautiful. It can allso be just plain startling.

Consider the natural numbers – 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. They are infinite; any number you can conceive of can be increased. Now consider the even natural numbers – 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. These also obviously extend to infinity.

So if you compare the set of all natural numbers with the set of all even natural numbers, which is larger?

Best of luck to you!!!

Anime Review: Castlevania Season 3

Hello my dear anime lovers, I hope everything is going well, and anime continues to make you happy.

If you’ve been online at all in the past few weeks, and have an interest in anime, you’ve probably seen some posts on Castlevania, even if you haven’t seen it yourself.

It’s a Netflix Original anime, and Season 3 just came out recently, and since I just finished it last night, we’re gonna review it.

Castlevania Season 3

The Story so far…

This season was a bit slower for the Castlevania story. It wasn’t as fast paced as the first two seasons.

Dracula is dead, so our focus is on the Vampire alliance, the Belmont duo, and Alucard.

Alucard doesn’t do much, but he is a great example of social distancing! His focus is on training the siblings, and interacting with humans again now that he is awake.

The Vampire alliance is a bit slower too. They’re into the scheming and planning their next steps for subjugating the human race, so not a lot of action from their end.

Belmont et al. are the primary focus, and I liked the mystery they were trying to solve this season. It was a nice change from the constant fighting, though we get plenty of that still, don’t worry!

Castlevania Season 3 key art

Who’s who?

I don’t think any of the new characters really stood out this season. We got St. Germain, but I wasn’t a fan of him. He seemed to be too much like Trevor Belmont for my liking, but somehow worse.

Getting to explore the Forgemaster’s stories was nice. They had been introduced before, but they were background characters. We didn’t get the depth that we did this season.

The Battles: WOW

In 10 episodes, we probably get 3 or 4 BIG fights, but the battle at the end makes it all worth it.

It probably sounds pretty stupid, but I have a new appreciation for whips. Seeing a whip being used in this season, and sometimes two whips at once, has actually been really cool.

You don’t often see whips being used at all, and when they are it’s usually a slave master or something. They are an under appreciated weapon, that I really want to see more of now.

What’s next for Castlevania?

Obviously we don’t have an ending to the story yet. We will be (hopefully) getting more Castlevania.

I think with the next season, we will get a battle with Trevor and the Vampire Alliance. The battle built up this season, and I think next season will see the two sides clash.

We will also probably get more Alucard fights, in his slow descent into evil…turning into Dracula.

We don’t know when Season 4 will be out, but I know I’ll be watching it the moment that it does.

Quote of the Day: Prodigy by Marie Lu

“He is beauty, inside and out.
He is the silver lining in a world of darkness.
He is my light.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“You know, sometimes I wonder what things would be like if I just … met you one day. Like normal people do. If I just walked by you on some street one sunny morning and thought you were cute, stopped, shook your hand, and said, “Hi, I’m Daniel.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“Love is illogical, love had consequences–I did this to myself, and I should be able to take it.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“The first time I saw you, when you stepped into that Skiz ring against Kaede, I thought you were the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. I could’ve watched you forever. The first time I kiss you…” That memory overpowers me now, taking me by surprise. I remember every last detail of it, almost enough to push away the lingering images of the Elector pulling June to him. “Well, that might as well have been my first kiss ever.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“See?” she says. “tricked you. You’re always staring at your opponents eyes-but that gives you a bad peripheral view.If you want to track my arms and legs, you have to focus on my chest.”
I raise my eyebrow at that. “say no more.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“Day, the boy from the streets with nothing except the clothes on his back and the earnestness in his eyes, owns my heart. He is beauty, inside and out. He is the silver lining in a world of darkness. He is my light.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“Yeah, something was wrong. That was the understatement of the year.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“I want to run. To do what I always do, have always done, for the last five years of my life. Escape, flee into the shadows. But this time, I stand my ground. I’m tired of running.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“I make sure to keep a good distance between us, just in case she decides to get happy with a knife or something.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“My heart is ripped open, shredded, leaking blood. I can’t let him leave like this. We’ve been through to much to turn into strangers.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“Now you’ll get to see how I can really run a building, darlin. Not even a cracked knee to hold me back, yeah? What a nice birthday present.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“Even in the dark, I see hints of a smile creep onto her face.
“Yeah. You are a smooth talker.”
I give her a wounded frown.“Sweetheart, would I ever lie to you?”
“Don’t try. I’d see right through it.” I give her a low laugh. “Fair enough.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

“He spins around. Before I can say anything else, he steps forward and takes my face in his hands. Then he’s kissing me one last time, overwhelming me with his warmth, breathing life and love and aching sorrow into me. I throw my arms around his neck as he wraps his around my waist. My lips part for him and his mouth moves desperately against mine, devouring me, taking every breath that I have. Don’t go, I plead wordlessly. But I can taste the good-bye on his lips, and now I can no longer hold back my tears. He’s trembling. His face is wet. I hang on to him like he’ll disappear if I let go, like I’ll be left alone in this dark room, standing in the empty air. Day, the boy from the streets with nothing except the clothes on his back and the earnestness in his eyes, owns my heart.”
― Marie Lu, Prodigy

I Don’t Mind Spoilers

Hello my dear readers, I hope life is treating you as well as it can. If you’re reading this, you’re back for yet another Thursday Thoughts post.

This week’s topic? I don’t mind spoilers.

Seems pretty straightforward, so let’s get into it!

Everyone reads books, watches Netflix, TV, plays video games, or takes in some form of entertainment that can be spoiled.

Sometimes it’s inevitable. We can’t help things being spoiled for us. That new movie is just too good for strangers not to talk about on the bus, or that big sports game is flooding TVs everywhere you go, or even the series finale of your favourite show is being talked about all over social media.

It is very difficult to avoid them. Spoilers are everywhere you go in life. Sometimes they are obvious with articles or videos being made about them, sometimes they are less obvious, where spoilers are in memes.

But to be honest?

I don’t mind spoilers. I don’t mind stories being ruined for me. I don’t mind discussing the end of a book series with someone, knowing I am three books from the end. I want to know what happens at the end of the TV season, because the middle is often too boring.

I actually enjoy it. I enjoy spoilers.

I CRAVE to know the ending of whatever book, movie, or TV series I am taking.

If someone won’t tell me, I will look it up. I’ll spend hours clicking through the Wiki, putting the pieces of the puzzle together.

I’m always looking up a character’s ending, or when this event happens, or when someone might die.

I can’t wait to find out the answer on my own by reading the book or watching eight more episodes.

I NEED to know what happens.

Very few people I know of are the same as me. Most people hate having things spoiled for them, because it ruins the fun.

It ruins the adventure, it ruins the surprise.

That makes sense to me, and I can agree that the moments I didn’t have spoiled for me get a larger reaction out of me. I remember literally fist pumping when Andolin Kholin (Stormlight Archive) dueled a bunch of shard bearers solo. That moment wasn’t ruined for me, and it was AMAZING.

But having things “spoiled” for me actually makes me more excited for a book. It makes me more excited to get to that point and see it unfold for me.

If you’re one of the few people who don’t mind spoilers, let me know in the comments. Please tell me I’m not alone!

Share Indie Book Launches

We all know that a lot of book launches, book fairs, and plenty of non-book related events have been cancelled because of the current state of affairs we are in.

Because there aren’y many book events happening, I thought I’d give people a chance to share some book launches they know have happened recently, or will be happening soon.

A lot of authors had their book launches cancelled or postponed, so let’s share some book blogger love by sharing some book launches!

10 Anime I Can’t Wait To Watch!

Hello my dear anime lovers, today’s post has you in mind. My love for anime comes and goes in its strength, but at the end of the day, anime will always be a medium I love to enjoy.

There’s so much to pick from, and there are hundreds of stories to tell, I don’t think I could ever get bored.

Some anime I have been watching for years, some I just discovered recently. I’m not sure if you’re an anime fan, but I could go on for hours on the beauty of it.

This list will have some anime that are brand new, some that have been going on for a while and a new season is coming out, and some will have been coming out for a few decades already, and a few that have been out for a while, but I just haven’t found the time to watch yet

One Piece

A series that have been going on for almost as ling as I have been alive. With the current arc that is being adapted into the anime medium, I am excited to see things come into action.

Fight scenes, beautiful country landscapes, and samurai. I’m excited to catch up on the Wane arc.

Haikyuu!! Riku vs. Kuu

I rushed through Haikyuu!! in just a few weeks, so I know I will enjoy this spin-off show. It won’t be long, but I love the characters involved.

This was the first sports anime I watched, and being a volleyball player, I know the reality behind the whole show.

Made in Abyss

I recently found this one because of an anime Youtube channel I follow, and I was disappointed to find out I caught up so quickly.

There’s a new movie that supposedly continues the story came out in January, and I heard rumors of a new season too, so I will be watching it the instant it comes out.

Gleipnir

So I recently read the entirety of the Pygmalion manga, which is about mascots coming to life and killing hundreds of people. Gleipnir follows a similar presence, and from what I have seen, it looks like something I will enjoy.

I’ve begun to appreciate horror recently, so I’m excited to get through the first season of Gleipnir.

The Promised Neverland

Honestly I have stopped myself from looking up this show. I’ve heard very minimal spoilers, but a lot of praise for The Promised Neverland, so I added it to the list on blind trust.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma

I read a bit of the manga, but I quickly couldn’t keep up in the midst of reading other manga. I really enjoyed the story’s premise, and thought hey, let’s watch the anime!

It looks really good, and I think this is an anime that will look better on video than it does on the page!

Vinland Saga

Anime and vikings. Is there anything else to enjoy? Two worlds thrown together that make a perfect match. Another show I don’t know a lot of, and has been going on for a while that I just haven’t found the time for yet.

Attack on Titan Season 4

DAMN AM I EXCITED FOR SEASON 4 OF ATTACK ON TITAN. This show got better and better with each season, and with the final season coming out in October, I can’t wait!

It’s not just action packed, but full of mystery and deception. I know this show might be over-hyped to some people, but I really enjoy watching it.

Tower of God

I found this little-known manwa many years ago, and thought it was my own precious gem. I always wanted it to be adapted to an anime, and now that it is here, I can’t tell you how excited I am!

Just a few more weeks, and Bam will be climbing the tower on a screen near you.
