New Years Quotes to Inspire You

Hello dear readers. I hope 2020 is off to a good start this year for you. I know it’s a bit cliché, but everyone needs a bit of inspiration to help them kick off their resolutions.

I hope these help, or inspire you in some way!

“Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life.” —Robin Sharma

“New year—a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours.” —Alex Morritt

“Youth is when you’re allowed to stay up late on New Year’s Eve. Middle age is when you’re forced to.” —Bill Vaughan

“Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.” —Benjamin Franklin

“When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow.” —Shauna Niequist

“Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.” —William James

“Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.” —David McCullough Jr.

“Let our New Year’s resolution be this: We will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.” —Göran Persson

“Remove ‘shoulds’ from your vocabulary this year. Start your journey of self-love now.” —Kelly Martin

“We all get the exact same 365 days. The only difference is what we do with them.” —Hillary DePiano

“Making New Year resolutions is one thing. Remaining resolute and seeing them through is quite another.” —Alex Morritt

Stealing People’s Ideas…Creatively

In today’s world, every idea has been taken. It is literally impossible to come up with a 100% original idea.

If you call yourself a creative person, I bet you constantly have ideas rolling through your head, and probably more so if you are a content creator. Writing a book, making videos, or any sort of content making will do wonders on the creative part of your brain.

Yeah, sure, you can have an idea for a space elephant wearing a unicorn onesie fighting robot pandas in the deserts of France. Sounds like it’s a pretty original idea right?

I’m sorry to tell you, but it’s not. It’s not original. The idea has already been taken. Maybe not all at once, but aspects of it. This idea belonged to that author. That idea belonged to this author.

Some aspect of every story, idea, or even thought has been used by someone else. Every possible idea has been taken…but that’s not something that should deter what ideas come to your mind.

That’s why I believe in one simple rule. A rule that I think all creative people follow when they think of new ideas.

Steal people’s ideas, but steal them creatively.

I don’t mean think of a creative way to steal their ideas. Stealing ideas outright is wrong. Stealing someone’s hard work and time is wrong.

What I mean by stealing creatively, is be inspired by them.

Be inspired by ideas you see everywhere, absorb them, and them take them in and use them.

Take everything in. Live your life, take in every sight, sound, and sense that you experience and use them to inspire you. Incorporate aspects of people ideas into your ideas.

Add your twist to them. Make them your own. Make them you. Make their ideas your own. Steal people’s ideas, creatively.

Be inspired by the hard work of others, and work hard to make those ideas yours.

Since it’s Chinese New Year today, what better way to celebrate than a writing prompt based off of just that.

So here it is:

The 12 Zodiac animals get together, as they do once every year to celebrate the new year.

The only problem is, there is one missing. The 11 animals soon realize that Pig is missing, and nobody has heard from him in a long time.

The animals go off together in search of Pig.

I hope you enjoy this one. I think it’s an interesting idea, and could be a really good idea for a book. (if you use it for a book just let me know or give me credit please lol)

First blog post and first TIOT of the year so let’s start it off with a good writing prompt to get your creative juices flowing.

The clock struck 12:00 on December 31 and everyone froze. At first you thought it was a joke your friends were playing on you, but you soon realized you were the only person able to move freely.

What is the first thing you do?

I’d love to read your creations so as always send them to me!

Type it out Tuesday: Christmas Edition

Since most of you are at home or with family I figure most people won’t be using the writing prompt this week but I’ll still try it out.

You wake up on Christmas morning, in your house that you live in alone, and there’s a present sitting outside your bedroom door. It wasn’t there when you went to bed.

You bend down and rip off the bow…

Have fun!! I’d love to hear what someone makes of this.
